Gail "Simpson" York

Gail (Simpson) York passed away November 25, 2017 in Tenino, Washington. She was born October 4, 1923 to Guy Ferdinand Simpson and Ivy June (Smith) Simpson in Anacortes, Washington, where she later graduated from Anacortes High School. Gail worked at the Bremerton Naval Base (laundry and cafeteria) where she met her future husband, Henry Clayton York. They were married on May 31, 1946 in Seattle, Washington. Later that year, they purchased a home in Seattle, where Gail lived for 70 years, through her husband’s death in 2005 after 58 years of marriage, her son Roger’s death, and finally the sale of the home in 2017 so she could live with her daughter. Prior to her wedding, Gail also worked as a type setter at a print shop in Seattle. She always loved reading, knitting, crocheting, sewing and gardening. She also loved small animals, especially her cats. She was a member of the Church by the Side of the Road (CBSR) in Tukwila, Washington. Gail is survived by her son, David York of Spokane; daughter, Evelyn Pratt of Tenino; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
