Ben Larsen, 84 of Auburn died on Saturday January 21, 2006 in Auburn. He was born in Rainier, Washington on October 1, 1921 and has been a resident of Auburn for 78 years. After graduating at Auburn High School, Auburn, Ben worked at J.C. Penney, then as a R.R. Locomotive Engineer on the Northern Pacific and Burlington Northern. Was inducted May 20, l944 into Co. B 749th Railway Operating Battalion. Operated steam and diesel locomotives while serving with the 749th and the 775th Railway Grand Division in the Philippine Islands. After 2 years he was honorably discharged on May 13, l946. Preceded in death by his parents, Helge and Gertrude and his brother Norman. He was a retired Locomotive Engineer, retiring in l983 after 40 years with the Northern Pacific now the Burlington Northern Railroad. Ben enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Survivors: Wife: Margaret Larsen, Auburn, WA Son: Kenneth Larsen 2 grandsons 1 great-granddaughter Brother: Lars Larson Brother Hoke Larson Graveside services Thursday January 26, 2006 at 1:00 PM in the Mountain View Cemetery, Auburn. Memorials may be made to Medic One.
