Charles William Bojarski
Charles William Bojarski, a Washington State Patrol Trooper from 1962 to 1985, passed away quietly in his sleep on October 27, 2014, at Puget Sound Health Care in Olympia, Washington. He was 83 years old and a resident of the Olympia area for over 40 years. Charles was born October 24, 1931, in Vicksburg, Michigan to Philip (Felix) Bojarski and Stella (Kaminski) Bojarski. Charles joined the U. S. Navy and, while stationed in Bremerton, Washington, he met his wife-to-be, Christine Rohwein. Charles and Christine were married on October 13, 1951. Charles began his career with the State Patrol after he graduated from the Academy in 1963. His first assignment as a commissioned Trooper was in the Hoquiam Detachment, where he worked until he transferred to the Patrol’s Capitol Security Unit in Olympia in 1972. Charles attended Bomb Technician School in Huntsville, Alabama while in the Capitol Security Unit and became one of their bomb techs. Charles retired from the Patrol in 1985. Charles was known by friends as “Chuck” or “Bo.” After retirement from the Patrol, he was hired as Legislative Security Chief in Olympia, where he gained his later interest in politics. Charles ran for State Senate later in his life, but lost by a close margin. His interests were for all forms of public safety. Charles was an avid member of the Puget Sound Hash House Harrier’s running group and he traveled all over the world attending these running events. His wife Christine accompanied him on several of these trips to places such as Thailand, New Zealand, Australia, and Alaska. Charles is survived by Christine, his wife of 63 years; children, Jackie Mackey, Pam Rasmus, Jeanne Todd, Donald Bojarski, Christie Harris, and Cathie Barnes; 13 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Bojarski. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
