Christine Theresa Rohwein Bojarski

Christine Theresa Bojarski, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on January 1, 2016, at Manor Care in Olympia, Washington, at the age of 84. Christine, also known as Chris and Tina, was born in Scio, Oregon, in December 1931 to George and Katherine (Herbach) Rohwein. She was the oldest of eight children. As a young girl, she lived with her family on their farm in Scio before they moved to Bremerton, Washington. Christine attended Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic grade school before attending Coontz Junior High and then graduating from Bremerton High School. Christine met the love of her life, Charles Bojarski, who was stationed at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, while she was working at a small diner and the local drive-in. Christine and Charles were married on October 13, 1951. The couple later moved to Elma, Washington with their seven children. When the children were older, Christine began her working career as a librarian at the Elma Public Library. She was later hired as a computer operations supervisor at the Department of Licensing, where she worked until her retirement from state service. After retirement, Christine became a member of the Abbey Clippers at the Saint Martin’s Abbey in Lacey, where she enjoyed working with the other volunteers. Christine was a loving and caring person who always looked for the good in others. She was gracious and kind to everyone, both young and old, which made those who met her feel special. It was amazing to watch complete strangers gravitate to her because of her friendly and caring demeanor. She was quick to give a kind word or offer assistance to others. Christine was also known for her quick wit and great sense of humor. Christine was an avid Mariner’s fan and she enjoyed attending home games with her husband and family. She also watched televised games from her home and could surprise you with her knowledge about the players. Christine is survived by her children, Jackie Mackey, Pam Rasmus, Jeanne Todd, Don Bojarski, Christie Harris, and Cathie Barnes; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; and son, Robert Bojarski. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
