John LaVerne West
July 18th, 1930 - April 15th, 2005
John West, 74 of Kent died peacefully in his home from double pneumonia on Friday April 15, 2005 in Kent. He was born in McCloud, OK on July 18, 1930 and been a resident of Kent for 16 years. John and Jan were in the metal distribution business, owning Rainier Metals, which they sold in l979, then Sunshine Metals which they sold in l989 when they retired. They were blessed with outstanding employees. John served in both the Army and the Army Air Force. I’m Free. Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free-I’m following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call; I turned back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way; I found that place at the close of the day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss; Ah yes, these things, I too will miss Be not burdened with times of sorrow-I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life’s been full, I savored much; Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief; Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me, God wanted me now, He set me free. Survived by his wife Jan; daughters Nikki Scott, Kent; Donna Bradford and her husband Larry of Richland and son Stephen West and his wife Liz of Bothell. Six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be announced at a later date.
