Gloria Jeannette Forney, 75, of Auburn, WA, passed away Monday evening at the MultiCare Auburn Hospital, in Auburn, WA, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Gloria was born on April 30, 1938, in Rhinelander, WI, the daughter of Curtis and Violet Darr. When she was in the ninth grade, the family moved to Corvallis, OR, where her father owned and operated Darr’s 19-cent Hamburgers. Her father also operated the Enco Service Station in Albany. She attended Albany High School and graduated from Corvallis High School in 1956. Gloria married Clyde Forney in Albany on August 13, 1960. They raised three children in Albany. The family moved briefly to Wyomissing, PA, where Gloria indulged her passion for children by working in the special education department for Wyomissing schools. They returned to Albany again before moving to Richland, WA, where Clyde worked for Sandvik Special Metals. Gloria worked for Kemper Insurance and then Battelle Northwest Laboratories before retiring. Gloria enjoyed reading and travelling. She accompanied her husband on many European trips. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She had a ready smile and could befriend anyone in a room. She enjoyed working and meeting people. She is survived by her husband Clyde Forney of Auburn, WA, and her children, Michael Forney of Thousand Oakes, CA; Samantha Forney of Newcastle, WA; and Peter Forney of Conway, SC; and grandchildren Ryan Forney, Travis Forney, Lauren Forney, Alex Forney, Ian Forney, Alexander Forney, Victoria Forney, and Sydney Forney.
