Patricia Ann Delaney
Patricia Ann Delaney, a resident of Lacey, Washington for 23 years, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2014 in her Lacey home at the age of 88. She was born March 6, 1926 in Wichita, Kansas to James Mathew (Mulvey) Cole and Emma Evelyn Talley. She grew up in Port Townsend, Washington, graduating from Port Townsend High School. Pat attended Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. Patricia married William A. Delaney, Sr. in Port Townsend in 1945; they divorced in 1956 and remarriedl in 1981. He preceded her in death in 2005. Pat married Richard Grimshaw in 1957 and they were married until 1980. Pat worked in government services from 1952 until 1990 when she retired. Pat’s hobbies were gardening, cooking, line dancing, travel and bunko. She liked going to see her grandkids, dancing, playing music and playing sports. Pat loved family. She loved craft making and decorating. Pat took cooking classes throughout her life. Pat was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She volunteered for many things in her church. She was a Eucharistic Minister at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, for 23 years. She cherished her friends at the Friendly Flower Garden Club and the Ladies Luncheon Group of Lacey, Washington. She had friends in the local bunko group at Lake St. Clair. Pat Delaney was a kind and loving person. She saw beauty in all she met. Pat never met a stranger. She often helped homeless people and people in need, even bringing people into her home. She enjoyed family parties and cooking for others. She was constantly active. Surviving are her three sons, William Delaney Jr. of Camas, Washington, Daniel Grimshaw of Lakewood, Washington, Greg Grimshaw of Portland, Oregon; two daughters, Patricia Delaney, and Beverly Neeley, both of Olympia; one brother, James Cole of Kittitas, Washington; 14 Grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Her mother, Emma Evelyn (Talley) Lyons, preceded her in death. The family suggests memorial donations be made to Sacred Heart Church, 812 Bowker St. SE, Lacey, WA 98503.
