James William Clinton
February 11th, 1929 - February 3rd, 2024
James William Clinton, 94 years old in Puyallup, WA peacefully passed away on February 3rd, 2024. James was born February 11th, 1929, to Patrick and Mary Clinton on Staten Island, NY, the oldest of three boys. He graduated with a B.S. from Columbia College, received an M.B.A. from the University of Washington in 1961, and earned a Ph.D. in business administration from St. Louis University in 1973. Lt. Colonel James W. Clinton had a 20-year career with the Department of Air Force as a navigator, operations analyst, and project officer. Jim retired from the Air Force in 1976 to become an assistant professor of management at the University of Wisconsin in Whitewater, WI (1977-1980); then a professor of management at the University of Northern Colorado in Greely, CO (1980-1999). Jim became a Fulbright Scholar, teaching business courses in Vietnam from 1996 to 1997. Jim’s passion for writing led to traveling domestically and abroad to writer’s conferences. In addition to his numerous contributions to periodicals in his field of academia, he authored two books, ‘The Loyal Opposition’ (1997) and ‘Two Families: An Irish Melodrama’ (2011). Jim is survived by his wife of 69 years, Shirley. Through scattered across the country, his five daughters, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren were enthusiastic partners in sharing his love of the outdoors, be it hiking, backpacking, whitewater rafting, skiing, or strolling through a park or on a beach. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
