Clyde James Furlong

Clyde James Furlong passed away after a heart attack on March 28, 2016 in Centralia, Washington, his home the past ten years. He was born May 24, 1955 to Clyde E. and Ruth S. Furlong in Aberdeen, Washington. He graduated from Oakville High School in 1973. Clyde was an accomplished keyboard player and, at the young age of eight, his music teacher told him he knew as much as she did so she wouldn’t waste his time or hers by coming back anymore. Clyde not only could read music but he could hear a song one time and play it by ear. In addition to mastering keyboards, he was an excellent guitar player, playing lead and bass in bands while recording songs he composed and wrote. He sang and played guitar and keyboards in the bands. He also put his own version of music to The Ten Commandments, playing all the instruments except the drums, and also did the vocals himself. His musical abilities knew no bounds. He went on to compose and record music until his health failed. Clyde had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and make others laugh. He spent so much time helping others that he sometimes forgot to care for himself. He loved all animals but was partial to one cat. Clyde will be missed greatly by all those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his brother, Robert True of Portland, Oregon; sisters, Helen Pierce Doyle of Olympia, Washington, Claudetta Lofgren of Tacoma, Washington, Loretta Morey of Montesano, Washington, and Ruth Gange of New Mexico; and many nieces and nephews who loved him. He was predeceased by his mother, Ruth Furlong (1963); father, Clyde Furlong (1984); and brother, Dave True (2015). Memorial donations may be made to a heart fund of choice.
