Basil W. Buck Jr. was born in Howard, South Dakota July 19, 1938 to Basil W. Buck and Virginia Buck. He died December 21, 2010 at home in Tacoma, Wa. He was preceded in death by his father Basil, mother Virginia, sister Marlene Vogelbacher, daughter Kathy Buck, and father-in-law Claude Braunagel. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Donna of Tacoma, his son Pat of Tacoma, his daughter Melody Wilson and husband Alan of Elko, Nevada, 3 grandsons, 3 great-grandchildren, brother Bob of Fulton, Illinois, brother Gene of Maine, sister Carol Buck of Puyallup, sister Barbara Wacker of Colorado, and a very special Mother-in-law Helen Braunagel & family-Don, Ken, & Ray Braunagel, Linda & John Ohlsen, Eileen & Harry Heidrich, Cindy & Tracy Vanous. He proudly served in the United States Army 1959-1968 including 2 tours in Vietnam and 1 tour in Korea. After leaving the service, he went to work for Northern Pacific Railroad/Burlington Northern as a telegrapher for 22 years. Upon retirement he enjoyed bingo, and watching his Mariners, Seahawks and Sonics. He will be laid to rest at Tahoma National (Veterans) Cemetery Kent, WA December 29, 2010. Reception December 29 at AMVETS Post #1 from 1:00-4:00 pm - 5717 S. Tyler Tacoma, WA (253) 472-2552 In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to American Lake Veterans Golf Course (marked for coffee and cookie fund) attn: Roger Gatts, 9600 Veterans Drive, Lakewood, WA 98493.
