Funeral Alternatives of Washington - Tumwater
Charles Ronald Colpo
May 18th, 1937 - February 4th, 2018
Lung and heart disease are life changing day to day. Charles fought and struggled every day to live. On February 4, 2018, at 5:06 p.m., he laid down and quietly and peacefully left that all behind him. The waiting angels embraced him and took him home. The struggles were over. He was 80 years old. Charles Ronald Colpo was born May 18, 1937 to Ann and Batista Colpo in West Deer Township, Pennsylvania. He attended Allegheny Valley High School in Springdale, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Springdale High School with the Class of 1955. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from October 1, 1956 to September 30, 1958, stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He received Marine Corps training to become a combat engineer at Quantico, Virginia. He was a member of American Legion. While in the military, Charles married his sweetheart, Ruth Sonnie, on January 16, 1957, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They raised son, Charles, and daughter, Karen, and enjoyed 61 wonderful years together. Charles lived in Cheswick, Pennsylvania, for 50 years; Tenino, Washington, for 28 years; and Olympia/Lacey, Washington, for two years. Professionally, Charles was a meat cutter. He was the Meat Manager of Kroger Meat Division-Pittsburgh until they closed the division. He then worked for Top Foods in Olympia, Washington, until his retirement in 2000. Charles was very hardworking, likable, and a true friend, always willing to lend a hand. You could count on him. He was a good-hearted man who brought peace and comfort to his home. Charles loved the outdoors and traveling. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting, including going to Canada on a camping/fishing trip with his friend, Lonnie Sonnick, and camping with family in Tionesta, Pennsylvania. He and Ruth loved traveling cross country in their motor home, especially to see their son, Charlie, and his family in Tucson, Arizona. Charles is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Ann Colpo of Tenino; son Charles David Colpo, his wife, Yolanda, and their sons, Marco and Alex of Tucson, Arizona; daughter, Karen Elaine Colpo-Seguin, husband, Jean of Tenino, and their daughter, Emilie and her partner, Kam Thiele; brother, John Colpo, his son John, and daughter, Charlene; brother, James Colpo, wife, Barbara, and their sons, James, Michael and Chris; sister, Stella Perpich, and her children, James, Terry and Joseph; and sister, Jeannette Colpo-Cheswick. Shawna Merricks and Samantha Hawk have shared Charles’ life since they were in grade school and chose to call him Grandpa. Also, Bella Rose Abbett was a big part of his life for nine years; he loved her dearly. Charles parents predeceased him. Charles will be missed by many people who knew and loved him.
