Michael Hall
November 16th, 1983 - July 21st, 2016
Michael Hall, 32, passed away July 21, 2016 in Yelm, Washington, from injuries sustained in a car accident. He was born November 16, 1983 to Daniel James Hall and Heidi Irene Williams in Portland, Oregon. Michael grew up and spent most of his life in Olympia, Washington, where he married Jessica Detray on July 4, 2015. A high school graduate, Michael earned a welding certification through the Columbia Basin Job Corps. He owned his own landscaping business, Hallstar Maintenance, and enjoyed not just fulfilling the hopes of his customers, but being in service to them. He enjoyed talking with them and being a support when he could. Michael loved anything with wheels, especially old Fords and, over time, he collected quite a few. He helped his dad build demolition derby cars from the time he was old enough to hold a screwdriver, and won two demolition derbies when he was 14, with the support of his dad’s friends. Michael also loved to “geek out” on nature (his words) – fishing, boating, hiking, cave exploring and looking up through the tree branches. He loved his family, and was so proud of his wife and two young sons, and adventured with them often. Michael was a talented mechanic and craftsman, and enjoyed renovating, bringing old things back to life and building gifts for the people he loved. Michael was a very intense person. He made up his own mind, and didn’t quit until he met his own expectations. There were times in his life when this trait caused him big problems, and a as a result he learned a lot from the “school of hard knocks.” As a grown man, however, this trait made him seem incredibly dedicated and sometimes a little invincible. He had a smile that made you wonder what he was up to, and an abundance of love for his “people.” Michael is survived by his loving wife, Jessica Detry-Hall; son, Jaymes Daniel Detray-Hall, who is almost one; stepson, Brayden Detray-Behrens, age six; brother, Stephen Williams of Spokane; sister, Kassandra Williams of Olympia; mother, Heidi Willams of Lacey; stepfather, Richard Williams of Spokane; grandparents, Sandra Ware of Olympia and Shirlee and James Williams of Spokane. He was predeceased by his father, Daniel Hall of Portland. A GoFundMe site has been developed to help Michael’s young family. Please leave memories of Mike or condolences for his family in the Guestbook below.
