George Frank Holladay of McKenna passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at Good Samaritan Hospital at the age of 64, surrounded by family and friends. Frank was born on March 26, 1950, in Patsburg, Alabama to George Byron Holladay and Mary Agnes Thompson. Frank grew up with two brothers and one sister. Frank graduated from Rockdale County High School in Conyers, Georgia, in 1968. Frank served two years in the Pacific Northwest Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, touching and changing countless lives while teaching the gospel. Frank met Kimberlee Koontz and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 20, 1974; together they shared their lives for 40 years. Frank went on to serve eight years in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California and then transferred to McChord Air Force Base in Washington. Frank loved his family and life. He enjoyed spending time on the coast fishing with both family and friends. He loved traveling to Hawaii, where he would spend time diving with both Kim and with the sea turtles of the ocean. While in Hawaii, he spent his time serving as a visitor guide at the Polynesian Cultural Center where he made new and lasting friendships. Frank was blessed with the ability to visit various temples of the church throughout the United States and had a strong testimony of temple work and the need to complete temple ordinances for both the living and the dead. Frank is survived by his loving wife Kim Holladay; and three children, Shauna Allen of Yelm, Kara Holladay of Edgewood, and Michael Holladay of Federal Way; brother, Robert Bonner Holladay of Covington, Georgia; and sister, Elaine Fulcher of Monroe, Georgia; and five grandchildren. Frank is preceded in death by his father; mother; and brother, Charles Edison Holladay. Flowers can be ordered at Yelm Floral (360-458-3312). Cards and letters can be sent to P.O. Box 1087, McKenna, WA 98558. Frank will forever be in our hearts. Please leave memories of Frank or condolences for his family in the Guestbook below.
