Betty "Kain" Mildred Jennings
December 20th, 1922 - September 28th, 2015
Betty Mildred (Kain) Jennings, age 92, left this life on September 28, 2015 and is now with the God she loved, and with her husband of 50 years. Betty was born on December 20, 1922 in Willapa, Washington, to Joseph and Belle Kain. She was a 1941 graduate of Willapa High School and became the bride of Richard M. Jennings of Tillamook, Oregon on September 23, 1944. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Robert; sister, Evelyn; husband, Richard; and grandson, Douglas Allen Powell. She is survived by her brother, Norman Kain of Aberdeen; children, Janice (Mac) Cook of Atlanta, Georgia, Ron (Debbie) of Tenino, Washington, and Barbara (Jack) Bryant of Lacey, Washington; seven grandchildren, Richard Baker of Shelton, Kelly Prachyl of Olympia, Kim Khoyi of El Dorado Hills, California, Mike Bryant of Olympia, Karen Smith of Tblisi, Georgia, Suzanne Jennings of Tenino, Washington and Rosalie Jennings of Portland, Oregon; ten great-grandchildren, Nina Baker, Kimberly and Sydney Pracyhl, Preslie and Brady Bryant, Kelly and Andre Khoyi, Natasha, Ava and Jackson Smith; two step-grandchildren, Lisa and Angie (Cook); and five step-great-grandchildren, Jordan, Taryn, Isiah, Elijah, Leala Lee. The family is deeply grateful to Devian and Richard Tamayao of Charvie Adult Family Home for their compassionate and tender care of “Grandma Betty.” Betty was an avid reader, gardener, and seamstress. From little girl dresses to prom dresses and from maternity clothes to baby blankets, she loved to sew. Several of her great grandchildren still cherish their blankets that “grandma-great” made for them. She loved flowers, and especially roses. At their home in Belfair, she had her own rose garden that dad put in for her. For as long as we can remember, she and dad had a vegetable garden. While we were growing up in Sacramento, they had a summer and winter garden so there was always a bounty of fresh veggies on the dinner table, much to our chagrin. Betty loved the Lord and spent many years honoring Him with her talents and her time. She loved her husband and grieved deeply when he passed away in 1994. After a period of time, we encouraged her to date and possibly re-marry. Her reply was always, “No, I had the best.” A wonderful life of 92 years came to a close on the morning of September 28, 2015. We will miss her so much but we cherish our memories of her love for us, her wit and sense of humor and her absolutely yummy apple pie. Please leave memories of Betty or condolences for her family in the Guestbook below.
