Funeral Alternatives of Washington - Tumwater
Caroline June La Croix
May 23rd, 1927 - June 14th, 2015
Caroline June La Croix, surrounded by love, peace and comfort, passed away on June 14, 2015 at St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA, from a massive stroke at age 88. Caroline was born on May 23, 1927 to James Edward Fieser and Caroline Charity Lytle Fieser in Shelton, Washington. She lived her early childhood in the Simpson Timber Camp 2 in Grizdale on the upper Wynoochee River. Carol attended grade school in Camp; when the family moved to Hoquiam, Washington, she graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1945. She met and married the love of her life, Freddie La Croix Jr., in 1947 and they established lives in Hoquiam before welcoming their children, Ron and Lynn, into the world. Mom and Dad lived the American dream. They both worked hard and moved into a new home in Montesano, WA in 1956. Together they build a family business, Fred La Croix Trucking. Dad worked the construction side and Mom handled the administration responsibilities in her office–the family dining room table. During the time they lived in Montesano, they made many lifelong friends and enjoyed raising their children in the perfect family neighborhood. Many days Mom would take all of us to the river to swim or, in the evening, to the Little League Park to watch Ronnie play baseball. Their goals were to move into a waterfront home and retire; they reached these goals in 1979 when they retired and moved to Mason Lake, WA. They family soon grew with the arrival of grandsons, Mark and Matthew. Our Mom/Grandma loved their life on the lake and time spending with her grandsons. Her favorite summer day was defined by spending time with friends and family, picnicking on the front lawn and swimming and skiing off the dock. Mom was known in the family to hold huge family reunions in the summer; these reunions were favorites of all of her family members. Mom was a big sports fan and she and Dad followed their grandsons through Little League and soccer. She had high hopes the Mariners would win a pennant, and she cheered the Seahawks in the Super bowls. After our Dad passed in 2005, Mom moved to Olympia in 2006 and into Lynne’s home in 2009. Mom resided at the Guardian Angels Home at the time of her death. Our family is so thankful for the love and care Mom received during her stay at Guardian Angels, especially to Kris and Annie and Joyce, her loving roommate. Mom is survived by her son, Ronald of Edmonds, WA; her daughter, Lynnette of Lacey, WA; and grandsons, Mark Drake of Port Orchard and Matthew (Danielle) Drake of Tumwater, WA. She also was blessed with five great-grandchildren, Liana Cochran of Redmond; Ashley Euse of Port Orchard, WA; and Persephone, Sebastian and Daedalus Drake of Tumwater, WA. Mom is also survived by her sister, Patricia Schrager of Lake Isabella, CA; her brother, James Fieser of Augusta, KS; a very special niece, Marsha La Fey of Colville, WA; and multiple nieces and nephews. Mildred (Punk) Arko and Donald (Buzz) Frazer of Olympia are her last two surviving Lytle cousins. Please leave memories of Caroline or condolences for her family in the Guestbook below.
