Lucille M LaFreniere

Lucille was born in Leesburg, Georgia on September 18, 1920 to Justin Adrian and Ann C (Cottrell) Wood. She passed away on December 14, 2015 in Olympia, Washington at the age of 95. While growing up, Lucille’s father was a soldier in the US Army which resulted in them moving around a lot throughout her youth. She then settled in Lakewood, WA for 45 years and the last 10 years were spent in Olympia, WA. Lucille completed 3 ½ years of college at the University of Wyoming, just short of earning her Bachelor’s Degree. In 1946 Lucille married Thomas W Kirkwood in Tacoma, WA. Their union brought them the joy of three sons; Thomas A, Richard and William, before Thomas W passed away in March 1960. Twelve years later Lucille joined Eugene LaFreniere in marriage in 1972. Eugene also predeceased Lucille in 1996. Lucille loved going to the summer cabin on the Satsop River, writing short stories and baking goodies. Her favorite pastime was being with her family. Lucille was also a big fan of the Seahawks. She is survived by her sons; Thomas A Kirkwood of Lacey, WA, Richard P Kirkwood of Puyallup, WA, and William D Kirkwood of Olympia, WA, 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
