Margot H. Wood
April 30th, 1923 - April 29th, 2008
Margot Haffa Wood Born in Mannheim, Germany in 1923, Margot went to be with her Lord, April 30, 2008, her 85th birthday. She met her future husband, William Wood, while attending the University of Heidelberg Medical School and working at the Red Cross Hospital in Heidelberg. Her early ambition was to be a physician in Africa with the Albert Schweitzer Clinic. After her marriage to William, they moved to the United States where she became a homemaker and mother. Her passion was always the welfare of children. In addition to her role as director of several child care centers, she taught classes in child development at Clover Park Technical College. Margot loved traveling, entertaining and gardening; her garden was the pride of her neighborhood. She thrived in the embrace of her church, Chapel Hill Presbyterian, and she was always available to serve wherever needed. Margot is survived by daughters, Sylvia Wood, Christina (Tony) Donato, and son Brian Wood. She adored her grandsons Sunny and Alex Donato and Christopher Wood. Donations may be made to First Book, a non-profit that provides books for Tacoma's neediest children, at 8719 52nd St. Ct. W., Tacoma 98467. Services will be held at Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church, 7700 Skansie Ave. N.W., Gig Harbor, on Friday, May 9th at 4:30. Please sign our on-line guestbook at www.oakwoodhill funeralchapel.com
