Carl V. Benson Jr. Born June 30, 1931; passed away Nov. 1, 2012. Carl's passions were his wife, Betty and his family, his Catholic faith, sports of all kinds, and traveling. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Betty of 62 yrs.; children Carl Benson III (Shelley), Debbie Orlando (Roy), Lori Gruber (Marcus); grandchildren Carl (Hiroko), Heather, Megan, Garrett, Spencer, Tessa, Hans, Hannah; great granddaughter Lucianna; his aunt Martha Roberts and many loved relatives and friends. Carl graduated from Lincoln HS, married Betty, attained a job as a postal carrier and retired after 36 years of service. He also held other side jobs to meet his families' needs: he umpired, long shored, and ushered at the Puyallup Fair, Cheney, Univ. of Puget Sound, and UW. Carl played and coached many sports and volunteered his time and talents to the church, especially to the youth through CYO. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Nov. 19 at 10:30 AM at St. Rita's Church, 1403 South Ainsworth. The family is grateful for the loving care Carl received from the dedicated staff at Living Life Care Home and the wonderful care from Kathleen Magonigle, ARNP, Franciscan Hospice and the many comforting visits from Sr. Kathleen Reilly OP. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Carl's name to St. Rita's Catholic Church, Franciscan Hospice, or the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements by Piper Morley with Oakwood Hill, 472-3353
