William D. Maass passed away after an extended illness on June 4, 2016 in McKenna, Washington. He was born March 24, 1925 to David and Sylvia Jane (Sellevan) Maass in Hartley, Iowa. He also lived along the Tongue River in Montana; in Medicine Valley, Washington; Texas; and Missouri. William served in the U.S. Army during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and was also stationed in Germany. He married Margaret Medicine Elk in Lame Deer, Montana. Professionally, he worked in the logging industry, saw mill operations, and bridge construction. William liked to tell jokes and rhyme. He enjoyed taking walks, putting together puzzles, playing bingo, and reading. He was a member of the Northern Cheyenne Catholic Church. He is survived by sons, Leroy Maass and Robert Maass; stepsons, Elvis Lone Elk, Lloyd Lone Elk and Bernadine Lone Elk; stepdaughter, Alvera Cook; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Linda, Margaret and Billy; and stepdaughters, Cleo Medicine Elk and Geneva Medicine Elk.
