Funeral Alternatives of Washington - Tumwater
Mark Randolph Mentzer
January 1st, 1941 - March 5th, 2016
Mark Randolph Mentzer, 74, of Lacey, Washington passed onto heaven Saturday morning, March 5, 2016, in the Roo-Lan Health Care Center in Lacey. Born in 1941 in Waynsboro, Pennsylvania, Randy was the son of the late Mark and Janet Mentzer. Randy is survived by his wife, Paula Mentzer; his three children, Mark Mentzer of Olympia, Jennifer Perez (and James Perez) of Yelm, and Jonathan Mentzer of Durango, Colorado; his brother, Kirby Mentzer of Crestone, Colorado; and his two grandchildren, Antonio and Selina Perez. In addition to his family, he served in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1966 as a medic. Randy graduated from the University of Kansas in 1969 from the School of Pharmacy. Randy and Paula founded and operated Randy’s Compounding Pharmacy and Nutrition Center from 1989 to 2009, which is now known as Northwest Remedies in Olympia. Besides being active in pharmacy and nutrition education, Randy was also active in Boy Scouts. In his spare time, he loved water aerobics, hiking in the mountains, vegetable gardening, and photography. He also loved to follow the Kansas basketball and track teams “Rock Chalk, Jayhawk!” To his family, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, mentor and friend. He loved being at his grandchildren’s activities. To the community, he was the mild-mannered, middle-age, mutant old-fashioned compounding pharmacist and board-certified clinical nutritionist. To his friends, he was a ruffian of sorts. Randy had a deep love for the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a member of Grace Community Covenant Church in Olympia. He recently became active at the local Salvation Army and appreciated their care and outreach to the community. In place of flowers, a donation may go to Grace Community Covenant Church, Salvation Army, or American Cancer Society. Randy will be greatly missed. Please leave memories of Randy or condolences for his family in the Guestbook below.
