Jean Mary Anderson Mitchell
Jean Mary Anderson Mitchell was born on September 22, 1927, the second of four children, to Neil and Florence (Coney) Anderson in Birmingham, England. She passed away on April 7, 2014 at Olympics West in Tumwater, Washington. She grew up in England during World War II and, even though times were hard, she had many fond stories and memories of her childhood with her brothers, Donald and Neil, and sister, Marguerite. Jean married a U.S. soldier, Charles Mitchell, in 1952 and moved to the United States in 1955. Jean and “Mitch” moved to the Olympia area in 1957and Jean lived here ever since. They were some of the original Seahawk season ticket holders and members of the Capital City Seahawk Club. Some may remember Jean as one of the “English Tea Ladies” at Bucks Fifth Avenue in the early 80s. In her later years, she enjoyed being a part of the Tumwater Senior Choir and spending time with her friends at the Tumwater Senior Center. Jean loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her four daughters, Carol Wilson, Kathy (Craig) Anderson, Sharon (Bruce) Whaley, and Linda (Dennis) Smith; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason), Jeremy (Sarah), Michelle (Tyler), Mitchell and Jayson; as well as her great grandchildren, Hunter, Makenna, Austin, Faith and Titus; and her sister, Marguerite Tuggle. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, June; her brothers, Donald and Neil; and her son-in-law, Stan Wilson. Memorial donations may be made to the Old Town Center Senior Program, at 215 N. 2nd Ave. SW, Tumwater, WA 98512. Please leave memories of Jean or condolences for her family in the Guestbook below.
