Laura "Gessert" Lisette Pemberton
Laura Lisette (Gessert) Pemberton, 90, of Olympia, Washington, passed away on July 17, 2014. Lisette was born in Roswell, New Mexico on December 10, 1923 to Edward Cyrus Gessert and Phyllis Lee (Nisbet) Gessert. She was Valedictorian of her high school class at Roswell High School and graduated from Maryville College with a Bachelors Degree in Home Economics in 1945. Lisette married Samuel Heywood Pemberton in the First Presbyterian Church in Roswell on October 18, 1946. She traveled the world and the United States as the wife of a career military officer. She was an avid collector of antiques, stamps, and mementos from her travels. She was an astute investor and meticulous keeper of family records and history. Lisette is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Samuel Heywood Pemberton Jr. and Karen Pemberton, Austin, Texas; daughter, Susan Lynn Pemberton, Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Brian S. H. Pemberton and Cassandra L. Langston; and sister, Dorothy Gessert Lambert. Please leave memories of Lisette or condolences for her family in the Guestbook below.
