John F. Peppert
John F. Peppert John F. Peppert passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 14, 2013 in his Olympia, Washington home. He was 68. John was born December 1, 1944 to Frank and Madeline Peppert in San Francisco, California. He graduated from San Francisco’s Riordan High School in 1962, and earned BA and MA degrees from San Francisco State College in 1969. Over the years, John also lived in Anaheim, California; New York; Atlanta, Georgia; Charleston, South Carolina; Jackson, Mississippi; Detroit, Michigan; and the last 30 years in Olympia. John married Virginia “Ginni” Clark on January 27, 1968 in San Francisco. Professionally, he worked for the federal Centers for Disease Control & Prevention from 1969 to 1983, and the Washington State Department of Health / Office of HIVAIDS from 1983 to 2009 when he retired. He was a very gentle, loving person who always had words of wisdom to express and always found the best in everyone. He loved traveling, gardening, playing Sudoku, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends. He was a faithful member of St. Michael Catholic Church. John is survived by his wife, Ginni of Olympia; son, Jason F. Peppert of Fort Mill, South Carolina; sister, Barbara (Bob) Callaghan; nephews, Casey Callaghan, Darrin Kalk, and Todd Kalk; and numerous other relatives and special friends. He was predeceased by his parents; his son Jeff Peppert; and grandmother, Elizabeth Blackwell. Memorial donations may be made to the NW AIDS Foundation, Thurston County Food Bank, Union Gospel Mission or a charity of choice.
