Marcie Reed
Marcie Reed passed away peacefully in Olympia, Washington, on October 15, 2014, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her sons, Mike, Jon, and Josh; daughter, Shelby; parents, Lloyd and Frieda Nelson; brothers, Len and Kevin; along with countless other family members and even more friends. Born in 1958, she was the only daughter and middle child in the Nelson family. Loved and adored by all, she was the apple of her father’s eye. Growing up with brothers, she learned to hold her own and stand her ground early, along with a deep sense of justice and fair treatment. At most times warm and good humored, Marcie would go to any lengths to protect those she loved, an attribute she carried with her into adulthood. To know Marcie was to know compassion. She cared deeply for other beings and was widely known to go without in order to raise someone (or a furry feline) out of a troubled situation. She was fiercely independent, generous to her core, and a heart big enough to embrace any person or animal with its warmth and love. We say good bye to Marcie, a mother, daughter, sister, friend, and cherished soul. Along with love and warmth, there was courage and spirit. You cannot talk of Marcie without speaking of her strength. A career woman who took care of her family first and herself second, she always managed to find the time to be the rock for so many others in her life. A dedicated Christian, her love for her Creator Jehovah and a firm belief in his word, the Bible, kept her heart full of hope, and her actions selfless. She loved her spiritual family with a deep and abiding love, and they loved her right back, showing their support in her final moments. But it was as a mother that Marcie shone her brightest. Pouring out never ending love and eternal patience, she never failed to stand by her children’s side, no matter the cost. She raised four human beings to be as generous and giving as she was. They were truly her pride. Today we say goodbye to a tenacious and beautiful soul, a soul who left behind lasting impressions of love on every being she encountered on her journey through life. She will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, mother to us all. Please leave memories of Marcie or condolences for her family in the Guestbook below.
