Gladys "Olson" Mae Ristine

Gladys Mae (Olson) Ristine, 98, was born July 24, 1916 in Buffalo, Montana. Gladys passed away on June 4, 2015, in Olympia, Washington. Gladys (also known as “Grandma White Hair”) was a cute, petite lady, spunky and full of life for most of her 98 years. She grew up on a farm in Montana and had many fond memories of times on the farm. As a young adult, she married Clifford L. Ristine and gave birth to their first child, Cliff Jr. on March 4, 1936. Shortly after the birth of their first child, they moved to Olympia, Washington. Gladys gave birth to their second child, Marvyl Marlene, on February 2, 1938. Gladys had a passion for gardening, baking and chocolate. She worked as a beautician for many years and then went on to work for the State of Washington, from which she retired in November of 1981. After retirement, she was able to spend more time gardening, her true love. Her flower garden was almost as amazing as her pies. Gladys is survived by her daughter, Marvyl Marlene (Ristine) Bunce; half-sisters, Joan and Emma Lou; grandchildren, Jackie, Jeff, Jay, Jolene, Leisa, Chris, April, Brett, Suzanne; 19 great grandchildren; and many great-great grandchildren. Gladys is preceded in death by her mother, Flavella (Coons) Olson; father, Chris Olson; son, Cliff Jr.; brothers, Irving and Carroll; sister, Sybil; half-sister, Lola; grandsons, Jon Lee and Samuel; great grandson, J.J.; and her dog, Schatzi. Gladys loved animals and often donated to local charities, such as the Humane Society. If you wish to make a donation in her name, please do so to your local animal charity.
