Leslie Clayton Sams

Leslie passed away June 13, 2013 in Olympia, Washington, at the age of 66. He was born November 27, 1946 to Leslie Clayton Sams, Sr. and Hazel McClure Sams in Astoria, Oregon. Les overcame many obstacles throughout his life and grew to become a kind and gentle man. He was a man of few words, more of an observer taking it all in, and was not easily swayed. He never married or had children, but his family was the most important thing in his life, including his sisters and brothers, Dianne (Pat) Bean, Sharon (Pat) Martin, Michelle (Al) McMeel, Harvey Poe [deceased], and Michael (Donna) Sams. He also loved music and singing, and would sing along to the radio while riding in the car. He loved to watch TV, especially game shows. The night before he passed, he sat with Dianne, holding hands and watching several episodes of Family Feud. He also enjoyed western movies and books, and his favorite drinks—coffee and tea. While Les enjoyed feeding birds and squirrels, he was a little leery of other animals, enjoying them more from a distance. All his sisters have little dogs, and you could watch him scrutinizing them and a little smile would come to his face.
