Anita Marie Schwen

Anita Schwen, 70, of Montesano, Washington, passed away on April 18, 2016. Anita Marie was born September 3, 1945, in Wichita, Kansas, to Edward Lee and Louise Fern McGaughey. They moved to Washington in 1959, when Boeing transferred Edward to Spokane, Washington, and eventually Seattle, Washington. Anita met her husband George in Seattle in the spring of 1962 during the World’s Fair. George’s naval ship was docked there for this special event. They married on May 16, 1964. They moved to Ocean Shores, Washington, where they raised their two sons, Alan and David. Anita worked for the city of Ocean Shores for 24 and a half years, retiring from the city in 2008. She enjoyed spending time with family, traveling to their property in Omak, Washington, and down to the Southwest to see family and friends, experiencing retirement in their fifth-wheel. Anita and George celebrated their 51st Wedding Anniversary together last spring. Anita is survived by her husband, George; their two sons, Alan Schwen (and Heather Ortmann) of Tumwater, Washington, and David Schwen (and Meagan Schwen) of Lacey, Washington; three grandchildren; and sister, Carolyn Stewart of Yuma, Arizona.
