John "Chip" Edgar Upchurch
January 18th, 1966 - June 11th, 2020
John (Chip) Edgar Upchurch, age 54, of Eatonville, Washington, passed away on June 11, 2020. He was born in Stuttgart, Germany, to John and Marcia Upchurch. Following graduation from Bethel High School in Graham, Washington, Chip pursued his education at Pacific Lutheran University, earning a B.A. degree in Communication Arts. His career included teaching in the Bethel School District for 16 years. He loved teaching and guided his students in life as well as the classroom. He also enjoyed coaching, working on his property, and woodworking. Chip is survived by his wife Lisa; they met at Pacific Lutheran University and were married 28 years. He is also survived by his children, Tess Upchurch and Evan Upchurch. In addition, Chip is survived by his father John Upchurch (Jannett Bennett), sister Lisa Halsan (Starr Williams), and sister Tamra Karuna. Chip’s sense of humor and generous spirit will be dearly missed. The family will have an online memorial on August 23, 2020, at 2 pm PST. Over the past 10 years, Chip was both ASB Advisor and Athletic Coordinator and devoted his time to several clubs and athletic teams.
