Funeral Alternatives of Washington - Tumwater
Mary Elizabeth Foley
June 24th, 1950 - October 10th, 2016
Mary Elizabeth Foley died Monday, October 10, 2016 at Capital Medical Center after a short illness. Mary was born June 24, 1950 in Sun Valley, Idaho to James Vincent and Betty Jean (Kelly) Foley (Norton). A 1968 graduate of Olympia High School, Mary was active in student life and participated in band, tennis and debate. Like her mother, she was adept at math, going on to earn a BA in mathematics from St. Martin’s College in 1972. In the course of the career that followed, Mary served the people of the State of Washington as a research and data analyst, working for the Department of Health, the Administrative Office of the Courts, the Department of Corrections and the Department of Employment Security. In her leisure, Mary enjoyed spending time with family and friends, occasional travel, and true crime and mystery novels. Smart, funny, opinionated and very private, Mary will be especially missed by her sister, Margaret Foley; stepfather, William J. Norton; and best friend since childhood, Robyn Sederberg, all of Olympia. Mary is also survived by her two nephews, Robert Whitner (Janelle Gavin) of Bellingham, and Joseph Foley of Olympia. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Please leave memories of Mary or condolences for her family in the Guestbook below.
