Larry K. Smith of Olympia, Washington, passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family on July 23, 2014, at the age of 79. Larry was born in Bellingham, Washington, on August 21, 1934. He was preceded in death by the “love of his life” after more than 52 years of marriage, Marilyn (Skip) Smith; and his son, Steven Smith. He is survived by his four children, James, Virginia (Johnny), Lauri (Suzanne) and Michael Anne (Rick); his brother, Neal; and five special sisters, Vera, Margie, Leta (Dub), Ila and Carol. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many loving friends. Larry served 25 years in the United States Air Force, and was proud of his distinguished military career, having served faithfully and honorably. Larry was an accomplished gardener, taking great pride and spending endless hours landscaping, planting and harvesting his vegetable garden and creating his large dahlia beds, always looking for that unique one-of-a-kind plant to share with his friends and neighbors.
