Lillian Wahl

Lillian Marie (Werner) Wahl, 88, passed away November 24, 2014 in Winlock, Washington. She was born May 5, 1926 to Benjamin Arnold Werner and Susannah Pauline (Leinonen) Werner in Ironwood, Michigan. She graduated from Ashland High School in Wisconsin and, as a young woman, moved with her family to Seattle, Washington. Lillian married Alfred Wahl in Seattle on November 2, 1946. She was primarily a homemaker, but worked for a time at the Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, and Fircrest School in Shoreline. In the late 1970s, she went through the nursing program at North Seattle Community College. Lillian was a stable and determined woman who greatly appreciated a good joke. In her youth, she was an accomplished dancer and figure skater. Later in life, she enjoyed many forms of arts and crafts, and landscaping and redecorating her home. Reading and watching TV were favorite past times. After Alfred retired, the couple moved in 1983 to Morton, Washington, where they were members of the Central Lutheran Church. The last two years, Lillian lived at Clark’s Country Haven Adult Family Home. Lillian is survived by daughters, Kathleen Finnegan of Onalaska, Washington, and Donna Martin of College Place, Washington; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and sister, Jean Beland of Port Charlotte, Florida. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Alfred (2005); and brothers, Rolland, Vernon, Donald and Arnold Werner.
