Betty Jane Webley passed away of lung cancer on September 8, 2013 in Centralia, Washington. She was born December 16, 1936 to George and Ruby (Sanders) Brown in Yakima, Washington. Betty attended McKinley Elementary, Franklin Junior High, and Yakima High School. In addition to living in Yakima, she lived in Fall City, and for 27 years in the Tumwater/Tenino area. She was married August 15, 1954 to Merton Paul Webley, Sr., who preceded her in death. Over the years, Betty was a grocery cashier, department store manager, and title clerk. She retired from Hanson Motors in 1999. Betty was always smiling and happy. She had an infectious (and sometimes nervous) laugh. She loved her family and spending time with them all. She also loved sports, including bowling, Seattle Mariners, Seattle Seahawks (season ticket holder for 20+ years), and traveling throughout the USA (especially her beloved Washington State) and abroad. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, and several bowling organizations, including OWBA, WWBA, YABA and USBC. She is survived by sons, Merton Paul Webley, Jr. and Frank LeRoy Webley; daughter, Bemi Irene Leighton; 14 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brothers, George Brown, James Brown and Richard Brown; and sister, Barbara Searle. Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 21, 2013, at First Baptist Church, 1866 S. Market Blvd., Chehalis, WA. Pastor R.W. “Skip” Grover will officiate. Please leave memories of Betty or condolences for her family in the Guestbook below.
