Funeral Alternatives of Washington - Tumwater
James Neill Caines
May 11th, 1923 - September 30th, 2012
Jim, age 89, passed away September 30, 2012 in Olympia, Washington. He was born May 11, 1923 to Samuel and Hazel Caines in Tacoma, Washington. A 1942 graduate of Tacoma’s Lincoln High School, Jim played clarinet in the school band. He also worked in a meat market while in high school. Jim married JoAnne Gail Yeager on December 27, 1958 in Burien, Washington. He worked for Tacoma Drug and McKesson Robbins prior to his long-term career as an insurance salesman. He and his family lived in Olympia for more than 55 years. Jim was an outgoing person who never met a stranger—a trait he passed on to some of his children. He was who he was, an acquired taste. Jim enjoyed steam engines, wood working, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. He was awarded a first and third prize at the Puyallup Fair for his wooden cars and military tank. He was a Master of the Olympia Masonic Lodge No. 1, and a member of the Nazarene Church in Tumwater. He is survived by his wife, JoAnne Caines; son, Dennis Caines; daughters, Cathy Daniell, Suzanne Caines and Christy Lowder; grandchildren, Joe Caines, JR Caines, Rebecca Caines, Chris Havens, Nick Havens, Katie Havens, Zach Havens, Misty Thogerson, Matt Thogerson, Alex Lowder, Kris Lowder; and great grandchildren, Lea Caines, Ashley Caines, Kashlynn Thogerson, Cason Caines, and Jack Caines. Please leave memories of Jim or condolences for the family in the Guestbook below.
