Robert Paul Carter
December 15th, 1925 - February 5th, 2013
Paul died Feb. 5, 2013 at home in Fircrest WA. He was born to Rev. Lem and Vera Welch Carter. Dec. 15, 1925 in Seattle, WA. He lived in Seattle, Lewiston ID and Salt Lake City before being drafted into the army during World War II. He served in the Battle of the Bulge conflict. Upon his return, he attended Linfield College where he served as student body president. He was hired by J.C. Haley to join the staff at Brown and Haley. Paul rose to be Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He traveled the world for Almond Roca. After early retirement, he was president of Almond Roca Intl. and then found Carter Kahler, a candy brokerage, and then Import and Domestic Sales. Paul married his college sweetheart, Virginia Stow. Together they had four children Marcia (Joseph) Kurtz, Tigard, OR, Julie Carter, Vancouver, WA, Nancy (Stephen) Williams and Robert Carter Jr. (Lisa Haugen) both of Tacoma, WA, grandchildren Peter and Emily Kurtz, Joshua and Austin Carter, Hannah and Abigail Williams and deceased sister Elizabeth Baer. Memorial services will be Sat., Feb. 9 at 2:00 at University Place Presbyterian Church. Memorials to Linfield College Library Fund McMinnville, OR or the National Parkinson’s Foundation.
