Vonnie Gay Dunlap, 65, died Monday, May 20, 2024, in Lexington, Kentucky. Vonnie was born February 11, 1959, in Casper, Wyoming. She was a devoted wife of 41 years and an amazing mother and grandmother.

 

Vonnie dedicated her entire life to caring for others. From her family to animals in need, she never wavered in her compassion for others. She was passionate about creative endeavors like photography and crafts and more importantly, anything involving animals. She loved going on trail rides with Jody and friends and was an incredible dog trainer. She enjoyed traveling and sharing new experiences with her loved ones. 

Vonnie will be remembered for her fierce love of her family and friends, her selfless nature, and her unshakable resilience and strength. The constant support she gave her loved ones will live on forever. 

Vonnie is survived by her husband, Jody, her daughters, Angie (Steven) Buckley, Shannon (Clint) Lillard, Tommie (Wes) Wilson, and her son, Josh (Viviana) Dunlap. Her grandchildren, Morgan and Seth Rodriguez, Colton and Macey Lillard, Nate Morgan and Booker Wilson. Her great granddaughter, Ellie, her sisters, Tye (Austin) Smart and Kim (Rocky) Shaw, and lots of loving nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tommy and Mickie Hopkins and her granddaughter, Savannah.  

 A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
