Stephen Lee Solomon, 74, an Indian Harbour Beach resident, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2024, peacefully with his family by his side. He was born on May 13th, 1950, to the late Lee and Jackie Solomon in Green Bay, WI. After graduating from Preble High School in 1968, Steve went on to study Education at the University of Oshkosh. Steve landed his first job as a PE teacher, this kicked off his career of 40+ years in education. He was proud to be part of the Iowa-Grant and Deerfield school districts in Wisconsin and finished his career as a principal at Gulliver Preparatory School in Miami. Steve touched so many lives throughout his career and his life. During his tenure as a principal, he maintained an open-door policy and would often leave notes of encouragement for his teachers and staff. He has inspired so many people over the course of his life and enjoyed coaching students in golf, football, and basketball.
Steve enjoyed golfing, going to the beach, his cars, watching sporting events and enjoyed a great “social hour” with family and friends.
In 1998, he met the love of his life, Ana Gwin, soon thereafter he followed his heart and left Wisconsin to join her in Miami. In 2011, after 13 years, Steve and Ana gathered their loved ones together for a wedding in Indian Harbour Beach. Steve and Ana had 25 years of great memories that will be cherished for many years to come.
Survivors include wife Ana, son Nick (Jodi) Solomon, daughter Staci (Todd) Upmann, daughter Jen (Laura) Solomon, and bonus daughter Emily Gwin. Sister Kathy (Joe) Roeser, Sister Toni (Dave) Wicker. Steve had 6 grandsons Jake (Kaitlin), Cole (Katie), Beau, and Max Solomon, Austin and Acea (Bailey) Upmann, and granddaughter Emma Solomon. He had 6 great-grandsons (Maverick, Jaxon, Caden, Dash, Brooks, and Jett Solomon)
He was preceded in death by parents Lee and Jackie Solomon, sister Terry Solomon, and grandson Beau Solomon.
Steve was best known for his quick-witted humor and the ability to overcome any obstacle with a wink and a smile.
Friends and Family may call at Holy Name of Jesus in Indialantic FL on Thursday the 6th of June 2024 at 10:30 for a visitation followed by a mass and burial.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers and gifts donations be made in his memory to his late grandson’s foundation, Beau’s 5th Quarter.
