William F. Stier

Distinguished University Professor Dr. William F. Stier Jr. age 71 went to his heavenly reward. Married to his beloved wife, Veronica Martin Stier, Bill passed away on September 12, 2014. A winter resident of Englewood, Florida Dr. Stier has most recently retired from the State University of New York at Brockport. Bill was a distinguished professor, Athletic Director, Department Chairperson and most recently Director of the Sports Management Program. Bill and his family have been summer residents of McGregor Bay, Ontario Canada for over 34 years. Bill has published 38 books, and over 300 professional journal articles. He was a national and international speaker having traveled all over the world teaching and educating students on sports management, basketball, sports law and ethics. Bill and his wife Veronica are the parents of: Dr. Mark M. Stier, Veronica Ann Muzic, Michael Brian Stier, Patrick Shawn Stier and William F. Stier III. He leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Samantha and Michael Muzic, Katherine, Jackson, Josh, Jessica, Dalton, Daphne, Dalhia, and Alycia Stier, and his sister Mary Young. He is pre-deceased by his son Morgan James Stier and his parents William Sr. and Neoma Stier. Donations in his name may be given to the Dr. William F. Stier Jr. fund for teacher continuing education at the Birch Island Elementary School, Ontario Canada POP 1AO. An additional scholarship has been established in Sports Management at the State University of New York College at Brockport. The Dr. William F. Stier Jr. Memorial Continuing Teacher Education Fund is to be used for the continuing education of the teaching staff of the Birch Island Swawandsowe Elementary School, 321 Maple Heights Road, Birch Island, ONT POP 1AO, Canada. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 2 PM at the St. Christopher McGregor Bay Church in Ontario, Canada.
