CHARLES W. SMITH, 89, of Cape Haze passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at his Charlotte County residence. Born on November 25, 1925 in Amherst, Wisconsin he had been a resident of Charlotte County for several years coming from Fond du Lac, WI. Charles was a certified gemologist who was the owner/operator of the C.W. Smith Jewelers in North Fond du Lac. Mr. Smith served in the US Army Air Corp during World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years: Jean B. Smith and four nieces: Christine and Colleen McCabe, Theresa Clapper, Linda Parker and one nephew: Michael White all of Wisconsin. Interment will be in Sarasota National VA Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 2 PM at the Englewood Community Funeral Home, 3070 South McCall Road.
