Harold Leroy Tendam

Harold Leroy Tendam, 92, of Port Charlotte, FL died Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Tidwell Hospice Englewood. He was born on February 5, 1922 in Hamilton, OH to William and Bertha (Getz) Tendam. Harold served in the US Army at the Battle of the Bulge during WW-II. He was the Payroll Supervisor for General Motors for 30 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of Gulf Cove United Methodist Church Port Charlotte, FL, Ben Franklin #719 F & AM in Hamilton, OH, Scottish Rite - Valley of Cincinnati, Araba Shrine Ft. Myers, FL; Honorary Kentucky Colonel, Life member and past Commander of AL Post 113 Rotonda West, FL, Past Commander of VFW Post 10476 Rotonda West, Member of Elks Lodge #2710 Rotonda, FL, 87th Inf. Div. Past Commander & Treasurer, 40 & 8 AL Post 110 Port Charlotte, FL, Past Commander of AL District 13 and very active in Civic Affairs during the 1990's. Survivors include his wife: Esther Grogan, daughters: Linda (Edmond) Harris of Englewood, FL; Peggy (Roy) Carmack of Port Charlotte, FL; Step children: Susan Carmedy, Andrew Bulmer; daughter in law: Amber Tendam; brother: Jack Tendam, sister: Elaine Thompson, 11 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two wives: Mary Jane Wilson in 1997, Lois Meglietto in 2003; his son Kenneth Tendam in 1993 and five brothers. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Englewood Community Funeral Home, Inc. 3070 S. McCall Rd. Further Services will be from the Weigel Funeral Home, LLC 980 NW Washington, Blvd. Hamilton, OH with interment in Greenwood Cemetery Hamilton, OH. A Memorial Service will be held at the Rotonda West AL at a later date.
