Virginia Proctor
September 18th, 1935 - March 31st, 2015
Virginia (Ginny) Proctor was born September 18, 1935 in Bay City, Michigan to Sara Mae (Sadtler) Richmond and Kenneth K. Richmond. She grew up in Ferndale and then moved to Caseville where she met and married her loving husband, Lee Proctor. They first lived in Saginaw, and then made their home with their six children in Bad Axe, Michigan. It was in Bad Axe that Ginny began what was to be her life-long career of working in newspaper advertising. She sold advertising for the Huron Daily Tribune until they decided to move to Bradenton, Florida in the summer of 1969. Ginny, Lee, and the children really enjoyed living in Florida, spending lots of time at the beach which was only a mile away, going out in the Gulf on Lee's boat that was in the canal behind the house, and camping often with the kids, and other friends with their families. Ginny began working in the advertising department of the Bradenton Herald where she became best friends with Carolyn Wilson. Eventually the owner of the Bradenton Shopping Guide, and eight other papers (Shoppers), persuaded Ginny to be his Advertising Manager and, subsequently, the General Manager of all nine Shoppers. In 1985, Lee had an offer to be the Resident Adjuster for Auto-Owners Insurance Company in Melbourne, Florida, so they bought a condo at Greenwood Village and moved there. They joined Covenant Presbyterian Church at Palm Bay where their son-in-law, Dan Hendley, was Senior Pastor, and became very active members, sharing their faith and letting their lives be an example of Christian living to all who knew them. Ginny was a wonderful mother, attending all of her children's school and extracurricular activities, welcoming their friends into the Proctor home, and still finding time to be an excellent cook and baker. She was a long-time member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and made many friends both in Bradenton and Melbourne. After retirement, she volunteered at a Community Service Agency, The Sharing Center, in Melbourne and then became a member of their staff, working as a Case Worker for quite a few years. The Lord called Ginny Home on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 from Tidewell Hospice in Sarasota, surrounded by her devoted family. She is survived by her six children, Vickie Tipling, Brook (George) Hoge, Beth (Dan) Hendley, Holly Proctor, Christopher (Melanie) Proctor and Clay Proctor; by her loving sister: Betty Mosshart; by her Grandchildren, Jason, Melissa, and Jon Rodriguez, Andrew, Sara Beth, Hannah, and Sharon Hendley, Jenna and Chelsea Floyd, and Justin and Kyle Proctor; by her 14 great grandchildren; by her niece, Laurie Walker, and by numerous other nieces and nephews; and by many, many friends, including her two very good friends, June Kretzschemer and Theresa Glass. Ginny was predeceased by her husband, Lee Proctor; by her Parents, Sara and Bob Richmond; by her son-in-law, Ralph Tipling; by her brother-in-law, Peter Mosshart and by her nephew, Jeffrey Wurst. A Memorial Service for Virginia Proctor will be held on Friday, April 3, 2015 at 6 PM at Woodland Community Church, 9607 East State Road 70, Bradenton, FL 34202. Interment will be beside her beloved Husband, Lee Proctor, in the Caseville Township Cemetery, in Caseville, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Woodland Community Church. Englewood Community Funeral Home with Private Crematory has been selected to handle arrangements.
