August 4th, 1937 - January 7th, 2017
Luther W. Morefield 79, of Johnson City went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Franklin Woods Community Hospital. Luther was of the Baptist faith and was an ordained minister as of 1981. He was a dedicated husband, father, and friend. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Morefield; parents; 2 sisters; 2 brothers. Survivors include his step-daughter Rebecca Kelly; three step-grandchildren, Luther, Cody and Amanda Barrett; two sisters, Kathleen Blanton and Doris Shaffer and husband James; two brothers, Joseph Morefield and wife Peggy and Glenn Morefield; along with numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow in the chapel with Adam Warren officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 am on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the Vermillion Family Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45AM. Carter-Trent / Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Morefield family
