Donald L. Murphy, 79, of Englewood, FL formerly of Orange, CT died Thursday, September 24, 2009, at Tidewell Hospice in Venice. He was born on January 12, 1930 in Derby, CT to John J. and Katherine (Coss) Murphy. Mr. Murphy served in the US Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Essex. He was the owner of Murphy Ford in Ansonia, CT for 30 years before moving to Englewood in 1993 from Orange, CT and establishing the Englewood Clock Shop. He was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Englewood, the ELKS, KOC, charter member of the Englewood YMCA and a founding member of the Lucky Club. Donald enjoyed flying, sailing and clock making. Survivors include his wife of 55 years; Maureen Murphy: four children; Sean Murphy of Woodbury, CT., Donald Murphy of Bethany, CT., Tara Murphy of Waterbury, CT and Todd Murphy of Orange, CT. He is also survived by a brother; John Murphy of Orange, CT and a sister; Barbara Ford of Allentown, PA and 7 grandchildren. Services will be held at a later date.
