Francis A. McAndrew
January 17th, 1923 - November 15th, 2017
Francis "Frank" A. McAndrew, 94, died peacefully in his Venice, FL home on November 15, 2017 with his wife Jeannie at his side. He was born January 17, 1923, in Pittston, PA to parents Catherine Higgins and Martin McAndrew and was one of ten children. As a World War II Veteran, he was awarded 11 medals including a Bronze Star Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal Ribbon and Combat Infantryman Badge. When Frank joined the Armed Forces, he was assigned to the US Army where he fought battles and campaigns in New Guinea, South Philippines, East Indies and Japan. He was discharged with full honors in 1946. Frank worked for BP until his full retirement in 1982. After retirement, he was an avid golfer at Bobby Jones Golf Club in Sarasota, FL for over thirty years. He also was an owner of Pop's Gift Shop inside Pop's Sunset Grill in Nokomis, FL for fifteen years. Frank is survived by his wife Jeannie Bloomfield, his dog Lola and an incredible extended family of step children, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by spouses Odell Partridge McAndrew and Suzanne McAndrew. On Friday, November 24 at 4:00PM, a military honor guard will play "Taps" at the North Jetty in Nokomis. Following, there will be a Celebration of Frank's life at Pop's Sunset Grille. Funeral arrangements are provided by Englewood Community Funeral Home.
