Marvin "Mike" Clarence Speer

Marvin (Mike) Clarence Speer went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 23, 2017 with his loving caregiver by his bedside at Select Specialty Hospital in Bristol. Mike was born on July 24, 1965 and was a lifelong resident of Kingsport, TN. Mike graduated from Tri-Cities Christian School and attended Nottingham UMC in Gate City. Mike was self-employed at his garage, United Brake and Front-End Center on Center Street, Kingsport, TN. "Magic Mike the Mechanic" was a very loving and caring person. Mike is preceded in death by his mother Joan Miller Speer and father Ronald Kelly Speer Sr. Mike is survived by his brother, Ronald Kelly Speer Jr. of Kingsport, TN; aunt, Goldie Speer of Blackwater, VA; aunt and uncle, Rodney & Linda Miller; his loving caregiver and cousin, Martha Bledsoe; special cousins, Wilma Williams & Travis Bledsoe; and many other cousins & friends. A very special Thank You to all the doctors and nurses at HVMC ICU and Bristol's Select Specialty Hospital. Services will be held Saturday, Nov 25, 2017 at Mike's home church, Nottingham United Methodist Church, 2616 Nottingham Road, Gate City, VA. 24251. Visiting hours will be from 11:00 am till 1:00 pm. The funeral will be at 1:00 pm with Pastor Bill Porter officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Speer Family Cemetery on his farm in Blackwater, VA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Nottingham United Methodist Church, 2616 Nottingham Road, Gate City,VA 24251.
