Daniel Charles Dawson

Daniel Charles Dawson, 95, of Rotonda West, Florida passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Englewood Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Born on September 6, 1923 to the late Harold and Eulalie (Martin) Dawson he had served in the U.S. Army during World War 11 in the Philippine Theater at Luzon and received two Bronze Stars. Mr. Dawson was a yard manger and lumber salesman for Eagle Lumber for most of his life prior to his retirement in 1986. He has been a resident of Charlotte County for fifteen years coming from Coldwater, Michigan. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, a member of the Knights of Columbus in Florida and a member of the V.F.W., American Legion Post and the B.P.O.Elks Lodge all in Paulding County, Ohio. Survivors include his loving wife of fifty years: Maggie J. Dawson of Rotonda West, Florida; three sons: Craig of Harlan, IN, Bradford of Calabassa, CA, Eric of Rome City, IN; one daughter: Lori McElroy of Cridersville, OH; two step daughters: Ellen Henriott of Payne, OH; Colleen Barker of Englewood, FL; one sister: Mary Alice Kline of New Haven, IN and many, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A committal service will be held on October 12, 2018 at 1:30 PM at the Sarasota National VA Cemetery with military honors.
