Hunter Christian Thorpe

Hunter Christian Thorpe, of Kingsport, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the age of 21. Hunter was born January 14, 1993 in Kingsport, TN. He lived most of his young childhood in Church Hill before moving back to Kingsport. He graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 2011. He was a member of both the marching and competition band all 4 years while attending Dobyns-Bennett. He had a love for music and was pursuing his future in Music Business at Northeast State Community College. Hunter was working at Camp Ruff-N-More, where he enjoyed caring for animals. Hunter was a friend to everyone he met. His kind eyes and giving heart were truly two of many gifts he shared with us as his family and friends. Hunter is preceded in death by his loving father, James Christopher Thorpe, and several great grandparents. Hunter is survived by his loving mother and stepfather, Heather and Michael Myers; two sisters of the home, Logan and Mikayla Myers; grandparents; Jim and Carolyn Thorpe of Kingsport, Michael and Karen Steadman of Church Hill, John and Sandy Miller of Kingsport, Dee Myers of Bluff City; great-grandmother, Jonnie Steadman of Church Hill; his uncle Brian and aunt Rebecca Martin of Johnson City; aunt Tonya Hutton of Bristol; uncle T.J. and aunt Jessica Ross of Gray; uncle William "Dee" and aunt Katrina Myers of Winston Salem, NC; along with several cousins and special friends. The family will receive friends from 4 pm to 7 pm on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport. A service will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Jason McAllister, officiating. A Eulogy will be given by his uncle, Brian Martin and Nathanael Wolfe. A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Jack Thompson officiating. Pallbearers will be Drew Pangle, Jackson Coleman, Houston Williams, Brett Bossert, David Marcus, Cody Tipton, Justin Greer, Tyler Moats, Bobby Lemaster, and Zack Davenport. Honorary pallbearers will be Nicholas Lovell, Fox Knox, Nathaniel Wolfe, Joseph Hitchcock, and the Dobyns-Bennett Class of 2011 Trombone section.
