Kingsport - Charles Richard Gilliam, 58, of Greeneville, passed away Tuesday July 30, 2013 following a sudden illness. He was born in Kingsport and had lived here most of his life. Charles was a special brother who loved life. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dora Ramey Gilliam; sisters, JoAnn Davis, and Helen Redmond. Surviving are his sisters, Mandy Salyer, Barbara Mann, Trish Ann Gilliam all of Kingsport and Mary Simpson and husband, Glen of Church Hill; brothers, Billy Gilliam, Jackie Gilliam and wife, Jilda and Ralph Gilliam all of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews and a special nephew Brad Gilliam. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and care takers of the Sunrise Community, Greeneville. Graveside services will be held at 10 am Friday, August 2, 2013 at East Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Roy Lane officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 am. Friends may call anytime at the home of his brother, Jackie Gilliam. Memorial donations may be made to Freedom Fellowship Church, 401West Sullivan St., Kingsport, TN 37660. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the family of Charles Gilliam.
