Larry Gene Liddle
March 30th, 1939 - May 18th, 2013
Larry Gene Liddle, 74, of Mt. Carmel went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center surrounded by his family. Larry retired from the U.S. Army as a 1st Sgt. in 1980 after serving for 23 years. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, and a member of Freedom Independent Baptist Church. Larry loved the Lady Vols, Dallas Cowboys, fishing and bowling. Larry was a good husband, loving father and grandfather. He loved God, his family and his country. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Georgia King Liddle; sisters, Margaret Smith, Helen Skaggs and Theo Ketron; brothers, Raymond Liddle, Ralph Liddle, Virgil Liddle and Don Liddle; brothers in law, Leonard Gibson, Paul Ketron and Claude Smith. Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Paula Raymond Liddle of the home; his children, Sherry Michelle Knight & husband Louis of Kingsport and Ronald Wayne Liddle & wife Heather of Fort Mill, SC; three grandchildren, Louis Knight, IV, Samantha Knight and Avery Liddle; one sister, Pearl Gibson of Kingsport; brother in law, Johnny Skaggs of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews and his faithful companion "Ginger". The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7 pm with Rev. Andy Sensabaugh, officiating. Music will be provided by Chris Holder. Military graveside services will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport conducted by the TN Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors Team. Pallbearers will be the TN Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors Team. Friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12 noon. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 709 Truxton Drive, Kingsport, TN 37660. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the family of Larry Gene Liddle.
