John’s love of scouting started at the young age of 8 when he joined Cub Scouts in 1949. His dad was his Scoutmaster and he always talked about the trips that they took. John has been involved in Scouting for more than 60 years, from the time he joined as a Cub Scout in 1949 until now. In his youth, he was very active in leadership roles, first as a Cub Scout Denner, next as assistant patrol leader to Senior Patrol Leader in his troop, and then as president of his Explorer Post. In John’s passing he was vice president of programs for the Pacific Harbors Council. John had a life-long passion for scouting. John’s other passion in life was his family. He loved going on vacation with his kids and grandkids and especially liked trips to Disneyland. He always talked about the many family vacations we took.
