Garland Edward Horne

" I have fought a good fight….." Garland Edward Horne, 74, of Weber City went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was a loving husband, father, and friend and will be greatly missed by all who loved him. He had worked in the restaurant equipment business for 48 years. Garland retired from Strategic Equipment of Knoxville, TN in 2013. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and trustee for many years. He later became a member of First Baptist Church of Weber City, VA. Garland was a member of Gideons International serving in the Scott County Camp for 25 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Clifton and Hattie Salyer Horne. Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Annette Horne; sons, Kevin Horne and wife Linda, Bryan Horne and wife Trish; brother, Larry Horne and wife Polly; sister-in-law, Anita Quillen; along with a host of family and friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 5pm to 7pm at First Baptist Church of Weber City. A funeral service will follow with Dr. Lester Morelock and Pastor Denver Winebarger. Music will be provided by Liz Snapp and Judy McConnell. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 AM on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Holston View Cemetery. Kevin Horne, Bryan Horne, Larry Horne, Michael Horne, Larry Snapp, and Kent Snapp will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Scott County Gideon Camp. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM to go in procession. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Gideons International at P.O. Box 635 Gate City, VA 24251. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Horne family.
